AMBITION

One-day shipping. Prepaid pickup. Hot bites delivered straight to your front door. Modern convenience has no bounds, and now cannabis is joining the party.Kronic approached us at 90U about a marijuana dispensary…. with drive-thru ordering. Talk about the epitome of trailblazers. Just like us…and we really got to flex our creative muscles with this clever project.

STRATEGY

Our strategy centered around famous burger joints in the U.S., emphasizing convenience, fun, and nostalgia, while appealing to a range of cannabis consumers by putting premium products a car window away. Spinning off fast-food drive-thrus, we designed a visual identity that beautifully marries retro diner aesthetics with bold colors, vintage-inspired fonts, and playful signage with sleek, contemporary elements.

We knew this cohesive, thoughtful design would carry well across all touchpoints, creating a memorable and stimulating experience. By blending accessibility with a unique brand identity, Kronic’s drive-dispensary can stand out as a welcoming, innovative destination.

We began by rendering a design proposal. Like the familiar fast-food drive-thru model, our priority centered around seamlessness, convenience, and customer-centricity. We carefully considered flow, allowing customers to collect their cannabis products without leaving the comfort of their vehicles while avoiding the frustration of complex parking systems or awkward stop signs.

Our layout carefully and safely prioritizes flow, with an easy-to-navigate system where customers can place orders via a simple, accessible menu, receive recommendations from knowledgeable budtenders, and pick up their products. We also considered the increasing demand for privacy and convenience, especially for first-time cannabis users or those seeking a no-hassle experience.

By adopting this model, the dispensary will be positioned to tap into a broader market, reduce wait times, and offer stellar customer service. Our proposal included comprehensive blueprints and 3D structure renderings for the team at Kronic to visualize the streamlined customer journey and drive-thru experience, from order placement to product pickup.

If you can't tell, this is one immersive experience! What does every immersive experience need? Believability! Therefore, we were incredibly detailed around branding and logo, even creating the actual uniforms the Kronic budtenders will don that are dupes of what the team at big burger chains wear! 

The logo for Kronic channels that all-American, retro diner vibe, merging nostalgic elements with a vibrant, modern twist. The design evokes classic diners from the '50s and '60s, with its bubbly, playful typography. The choice of bright colors like red, turquoise, and yellow was incredibly intentional, building momentum around a lively, welcoming atmosphere, while the geometric shapes and accents lean into the retro feel. The logo’s playful stylized arrows bring movement and excitement, mimicking the fast-paced, jovial nature of drive-ins.

Blending warm, familiar nostalgia with a contemporary edge makes subtle hints towards Kronic’s commitment to quality. This branding communicates a laid-back, yet professional vibe, welcoming customers to enjoy the immersive experience and premium products.
